Summer Vacation Must Haves for Your Makeup Bag!

I’m going on vacation!  Yahoo!!!!!  I can’t even tell you how excited I am.  Of course I’m going to miss you, but I’ll see you in a week and a half.  Don’t forget about me while I’m gone!

Since I’m going on vaca, I thought I would share my summer vacation must haves for your makeup bag.  I’m not going to tell you to pack sunscreen.  Is that ok? C’mon… you already know to pack that.  I assume you already have the basics covered 😉

  1. Lip balm that’s not sticky.  Seriously.  Unless you have super short hair, any gloss you put on your lips is going to turn into a magnet for your hair every time a lovely breeze floats by.  I speak from experience.  I’m currently obsessed with Cover Girl Outlast Longwear Lipstick.  The color payoff is great and there is NO stickiness. I promise to tell you more about this great lipstick another time 😉

  2. Leave in conditioner (spray).  This is another one related to hair.  While sea salt sprays are the in thing, there is nothing worse than having your hair all matted up from being in the ocean.  A little salt is great… a lot of salt is a knotted up mess.  You need something you can spray on and work the knots out with.  I just got this little bottle of Pureology Colour Fanatic (review HERE) that is perfect size for my beach bag and has a beautiful scent.  My husband has commented more than once on how much he likes it.  That’s saying something!

  3. Baby powder.  Right now you’re confused.  I get it. I would be confused too. It’s possible that this one doesn’t apply to everybody, but hear me out.  There are two things I use baby powder for when I’m on vacation.  The first is abrasion from lifejackets.  I like to snorkel and I always end up with raw spots under my arms and on my back from the lifejackets.  A little baby powder on those spots after I dry off is heaven. The second thing I use it for is my sunglasses.  A tiny bit on the plastic nose pads makes them soooo much more comfy.  This is a weird one I know, but if just one person has the same issues that I have, I’m glad I shared it.

What do you always make sure to have in your vacation makeup bag?  I’d love to know!
See you soon!

Blotting papers, dry shampoo, tweezers (I ALWAYS see a stray hair if I’m in direct sun and looking in a mirror)!

I’m currently on vacation in the sweltering Indian summer and so wish I had thought to pack a leave-in conditioner! Oh my poor hair…

Eek! I hope you can find some! Or, you can always mix regular conditioner with some water in a pinch.

I have been thinking all summer that I need to buy a travel size baby powder to bring to the beach club where the changing room is always about 110 degrees. Thank you for the reminder!!

Awesome baby powder tip. I take coconut oil in a little vial with me where ever I go because my skin is so sensitive. I always joke that Coconut oil is my windex. lol

I almost bought a few of the CG lippies, but hadn’t seen any reviews so opted not to. Glad to hear they’re not sticky. Have a great vaccay!

Baby powder is also great for removing sand at the end of the day. Sprinkle on Sandy hands and feet and the sand will easily brush off.
