Makeup Geek Duochrome Shadow Swatches

By  |

Yes, you read that right… Makeup Geek Duochrome Shadow Swatches.  OMG.  I might not even have words for this post.  Just, OMG.  Duochrome!

Makeup-Geek-Duochrome1

I’ve recently developed a Makeup Geek obsession.  If you haven’t checked them out, you really need to do yourself a favor and give their shadows a try.  I can’t vouch for any of the other products, but the shadows are amazing.  They’re very blendable and have a ton of color payoff all for a drugstore price.  They are totally not drugstore quality.  It’s a win, win, win!

When I heard they were unveiling some duochrome shadows, I scrambled to check them out.  If you’re a nailista (my term for those of us who have a bit of a nail polish obsession) then you’re very familiar with duochrome finishes.  But, I’ve never seen that available in a shadow!

This first one is called Steampunk.  Makeup Geek describes it as a “black base with rich copper reflects”.  It flickers between a black/brown and a golden bronze.  Can you say stunner?  For me, it’s the perfect blend of a neutral and a bold shadow.  It’s really wearable.  You can apply with a light hand and get a super pretty effect or go bold and really provide that wow factor.

This second one is called I’m Peachless.  Makeup Geek describes it as a buff base with peachy-pink reflects.  It’s so pretty and feminine and just packed with sweet gorgeousness.  I’ve already worn this one twice!

The last color I picked out is a pigment, so it’s in this adorable little pot with a rose gold lid.  Ugh… love, love, love!

This one is called Prism.  As you can see, this one is a white base that flashes with pink and peach.  Because it’s a loose pigment and not a pressed shadow, it has more of a ‘ba-bam!’ effect to it.

I tried my best to capture the reflections of all of these amazing duochromes and this was the best picture I could get.  I think you can see all of that amazing shine!  But, It is super hard to capture on camera.  You really have to see it in person to fully appreciate how awesome it is.

If you’re into these duochromes, I highly recommend picking up a couple right away.  They came out 2 weeks ago and many colors are already sold out.  Yes, they’re that amazing.

I went the ‘safe’ route and picked up some really wearable colors, but there are also a ton of bold shades that would be very, very fun to rock on a night out!

Have you tried any of the new Makeup Geek duochromes?  Are you lemming any of them?  I’d love to know!
